Protecting our rights 💪🛡️

Hey friend!

I do not want March to slip away without acknowledging Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. According to the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD), the purpose of the month is to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life, as well as awareness of the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live. The CDC estimates there are one in six children (about 17%) aged 3 through 17 years that have a one or more developmental disabilities. You can learn more about the DD community by attending this virtual event or this eventhosted by the NACDD.

Since we like to keep things intersectional around here, this week’s Study Hall will focus on women with disabilities.

Let’s get into it…
