OCTOBER BASICS

It is almost mid-October and the month is breezing by. Get it?! Fall…chilly weather…breezing…

…okay, moving on.

This week I want to give a shout out to Peppa Pig, Ariel and Thelma, for giving us characters we can look forward to seeing on the big (and little) screen. Some folks are BIG MAD about these changes but they’ll get over it. Personally, I am excited because children (and grown folks) deserve to be seen even when it is fictional. Basically, representation matters in media. Even you can control what is represented in the media you create. Yes, you! If you aren’t sure where to start, you can check out my post about using diverse stock photos in flyers, presentations, and general marketing. Overall, I am happy about the intentional choices creators are making in digital media and hope this inspires you to be a bit more intentional in your choices. Keep reading for some basic ways we can do better and help others feel seen.

Sincerely,

Your favorite CDO

Amber Benton

Lately, I been livin' my life
